Create a DIY Candy Buffet!

These are so popular right now!

A candy buffet is exactly what it sounds like: a fun and colorful spread of all-you-can-grab treats. They're great for weddings, baby showers, birthday parties or graduation parties...(but we're pretty sure a candy buffet would be welcome at any event).

They serve as fun decor AND as a DIY party favor for your guests! It's kind of like having a miniature candy store at your party. Does it get any better than that?

There is so much room for creativity when building a candy buffet––but there are some basic guidelines you should follow. Essentially, you'll want to create a visually appealing spread that

1. fits the theme of your party, 2. has enough variety to appeal to everyone, and 3. allows your guests to take home their own special creation.

Want to know how to do it? We'll break it down step-by-step!

Here's what you'll need to build your candy buffet:

.🍬 LOTS of candy! (obviously...)

 🍬 A table and tablecloth

 🍬  Candy display containers

Some ideas: glass bowls or vases, mason jars, decorative paper bowls, tin pails or small baskets

🍬 Plastic candy scoops or tongs

🍬 Take-home containers for your guests

Some ideas: decorative cellophane bags, silk drawstring bags, Chinese food-style takeout containers, small mason jars or personalized boxes

🍬 Labels for each candy type

These are just the basics––you'll want to customize these supplies for your own event. Need inspiration? Keep reading!

Here's how to do it:

1. Choose your theme.

This how you'll know what candy to pick!

Some ideas: a monochromatic display for a wedding (match the candy to the wedding party!), an animal theme for a kid's birthday party, a pink-and-blue theme for a baby shower, or a school-colors theme for graduation.

2. Pick your candy.

Generally, you'll want at least 1/2 pound of candy for each guest.

Make sure you have something for everyone (gummies, chocolates, sour candy...)

Depending on the size of the event, you'll want 5 - 10 (or more!) different types of candy.

3. Pick your accessories.

You'll need containers, scoops, labels and take-home containers––so choose from our ideas above, or get creative!

4. Set up your table.

Arrange your candy so that each type is in its own container, and make sure to label everything and set out your accessories.

You may also want to add some decor that matches your theme or color scheme!

Some ideas: cute signage ("love's sweet...here's a treat!), lollipop "flower" bouquets, balloons, streamers, paper fans, scattered confetti...the options are endless!

5. Have fun with it!

This one's a given. With this much candy, there's no way you won't be having fun.
