Which one deserves the title of "All-Time Best?"
When you hear the words "retro candy bar," what comes to mind?
There are so many classics out there – it's hard to choose. I have so many memories from my childhood. Like frozen Charleston Chews! Have you ever tried putting one of these in the freezer? (They just taste better that way).
These are the treats that lined the shelves at checkout lines when we were kids. Now they've been replaced by new stuff! So we want to reminisce about the good ol' days.
Here are our Top 5 Retro Candy Bars!
5. Big Hunk
Remember Big Hunk? It's not your average candy bar! It's a bar of chewy, honey-flavored nougat – with "big hunks" of roasted peanuts inside. It's been around since the 1950s, when it was created by Annabelle Candy Company.
We know this one isn't for everyone. But it is a classic!
4. Abba Zaba
"Abba Zaba...you are my only friend."
From Half Baked to John Wayne, this candy bar has been all over pop culture!
We love its unique combination of taffy and peanut butter. It's been around since the 1920s!
Guess what we have back in stock?
Zagnut is a unique combination of crunchy peanut butter and toasted coconut. It's been around for over 90 years, but there is still nothing else like it out there!
2. Charleston Chew
Everyone remembers the Charleston Chew!
These came out in the 1920s, which explains the name – they were named after the Charleston, a popular dance at the time. It's vanilla-flavored nougat covered in delicious milk chocolate. Freezing them makes the perfect summer treat!
1. Sky Bar
We love everything on this list...but our top spot has to go to Sky Bar. This beloved candy bar was the first-ever "4 in 1" candy bar. It has four separate fillings: caramel, vanilla, peanut and fudge.
We were heartbroken when Necco went out of business in 2018 – and the Sky Bar was almost lost forever. But, thankfully, someone brought it back!
We're not the only ones who love Sky Bar – because we have a hard time keeping this one in stock. We're currently sold out! Click here to get notified when these are back in stock.
What do you think? Do you agree with our list?
